In an unsettling turn of events early this morning in Mission Valley West, a carjacking incident left a local man without his vehicle and personal belongings. According to the San Diego Police Department's Watch Commander's Log, the incident occurred at approximately 2:44 AM at 2445 Hotel Circle Place.
The victim, a 28-year-old male, was awaiting the arrival of a tow truck while seated in his 2008 Honda Element when an armed suspect confronted him. The assailant, flaunting a large knife, coerced the victim into surrendering his car keys and cell phone, following which the suspect, accompanied by a second male whose description remains unclear, fled in the purloined vehicle. However, the police found it discarded in a Park and Ride lot at 4400 Taylor Street.
The San Diego Police Department's description of the main suspect is notably vague: a male of unknown race with a dark complexion, bald head, no facial hair, and wearing a dark sweatshirt. Unfortunately, the second individual remains an enigma, as the victim could not provide identifying details. At present, no arrests have been made concerning the carjacking.
The authorities are seeking the public's assistance in this ongoing investigation—the Robbery Unit of SDPD is on the case. The SDPD has urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses any relevant information to step forward and contact either the department directly or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
