A Sunday evening turned tragic near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport when a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians, resulting in five people, including two children being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. According to CBS Austin, the accident occurred in the 1200 block of Bastrop Highway Northbound around 8 p.m.

The situation escalated, when, a stalled car on the roadside became the unintended epicenter of a series of collisions. As two passengers from this car stood speaking to officers, a second vehicle with three people was hit by a third car, the impact sending the second vehicle crashing into one of the pedestrians, a child. This string of events triggered a rapid response from the Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin Fire Department.
