
The Austin community is grappling with the aftermath of a violent shooting that claimed the life of a local teen. Authorities have confirmed that 17-year-old Nathan Ockleberry was killed during an altercation in the parking lot of the North Brooke Plaza shopping center. According to KVUE, the incident occurred on Research Boulevard near Spicewood Springs Drive, where police found Ockleberry and two other victims with gunshot wounds early Tuesday morning.

Austin police, responding to the scene, encountered Ockleberry and another male who had both sustained apparent gunshot injuries, while a third man was later discovered also injured, his wounds non-life-threatening. Running from the scene after the incident, the suspect has not yet been apprehended by law enforcement. "A large group of people were meeting in the parking lot of a shopping center when a disturbance escalated into a shooting," KVUE stated. Ockleberry was pronounced deceased shortly after officers arrived, marking the city's 49th homicide of the year.
The urgency to apprehend the suspect responsible for the shooting is felt by the Austin Police Department (APD), who are calling for the public's assistance. A reward of up to $1,000 has been offered for information that could lead to an arrest in the case, as reported by KVUE.
