As Mayor, Weise has been an influential force in Avondale's growth trajectory, his tenure marked by the development of key city landmarks such as The BLVD, City Center, and Civic Center, and now, as he pivots towards his new opportunity he remarked, "My intent was to serve out my final term as Mayor, but I also knew that if an amazing career opportunity surfaced, that I may need to alter my plans." Weise's time at the helm also witnessed Avondale hosting the NASCAR Championship Weekend on numerous occasions, placing the city in the national spotlight. In his letter to city employees, Weise expressed his profound gratitude for their dedication, saying, "You are the heart of Avondale, and I am proud and honored to have worked with you for almost two decades."
