
A recent post by the authorities has brought to light an incident involving an assault and a display of a handgun in Baltimore's Northern District. The post describes an altercation on Monday on the 600 block of McKewin Avenue. According to Baltimore Police's social media account, Northern District patrol officers were called to the scene at approximately 11:43 a.m. following reports of gunfire.

On October 28, 2024, at approximately 11:43 a.m., Northern District patrol officers responded to the 600 block of McKewin Avenue for a report of gunfire.

Upon their arrival, it was discovered that a confrontation between a 40-year-old male and a 68-year-old male had escalated. The younger man, during the altercation, was reported to have produced a handgun, pointed it at the older man, and discharged the weapon into the air. The officers were able to arrest the suspect quickly without further incident and to have seized a loaded handgun in the process. The suspect's background included prior convictions that prohibited him from legally possessing a firearm.
The suspect has since been transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility. He faces charges of first and second-degree assault, as well as several handgun-related violations.
