A house fire on Clark Street in Battle Creek resulted in a firefighter sustaining minor injuries, according to reports from local news outlets. The blaze, which began shortly after midnight yesterday, drew a rapid response from Battle Creek Fire Department crews.
Upon arrival, firefighters were to quickly work to quell ground-to-roof flames engulfing the back of the home, as well as conduct a search for occupants. WOOD TV reported that the fire was brought under control in roughly an hour and a half. Fortunately, all residents had evacuated prior to the fire department's arrival and were reported safe.
One member of the firefighting team was hurt during the course of the incident. This individual sought medical attention for injuries described as minor. WWMT shared that the fire is suspected to be accidental, although a full investigation is ongoing.
The extensive damage inflicted by the fire is estimated at approximately $120,000, predominantly affecting the second floor and attic of the property. Battle Creek Enquirer documented that the home suffered significant fire and smoke damage as a result of the incident. While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, details will likely emerge as officials to thoroughly examine the scene.
