Bayshore Mall, a popular shopping destination in Glendale, has announced the adoption of a new policy that requires youths under the age of 18 to be accompanied by an adult during weekend visits. The Parental Guidance Required (PGR) policy, reported by FOX6 News, will be in effect on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays after 3 p.m. starting November 1. According to Bayshore officials, the PGR policy is a proactive measure designed to maintain a family-friendly environment; it was not instituted in response to a particular incident.

Under the guidelines of the new PGR policy, "Visitors 17 years of age and younger are required to be accompanied at all times by a parent or supervising adult age 21 or older on Friday, Saturday and Sunday after 3 p.m," as mentioned in a press release. Those already in the mall prior to 3 p.m. will need to exit, or be joined by a supervising adult to remain. The policy stipulates, that valid identification, which could include a driver’s license or a school ID, will be requested to verify ages. As per the policy, one adult can accompany up to four youths, as detailed in the information shared by FOX 6.

WISN notes that Bayshore representatives have stated there are no plans to rescind the PGR policy in the foreseeable future, although the mall acknowledges that modifications may occur, particularly during the holiday season. This move aligns with similar measures taken by shopping centers across the nation aimed at improving the shopping experience for their guests.

The consequences for not following the PGR policy are clear: guests who behave irresponsibly or ignore the Bayshore Code of Conduct will be asked to leave. If they refuse, they could be arrested for trespassing. This policy aims to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors to the shopping center. As the policy is implemented, Bayshore remains committed to providing an inviting space for everyone, as stated in its public message.
