Bellevue's art-loving crowd got down to business on October 9, with more than 60 stakeholders gathering to discuss and shape the future of the community's arts and culture scene, as reported by the City of Bellevue. The arts and culture listening session, which was to help guide the city's next moves in support of the arts, came against the backdrop of the Bellevue Arts Museum hitting a rough patch, pursuing a receivership process announced last September to address its financial turbulence.

Participants were briefed on Bellevue's current arts initiatives and the museum's ongoing struggle to stay afloat financially. Their mission was clear – to quite literally paint a vivid picture of what they envision for the growth of arts and culture within Bellevue. An online survey was also set up to collect further input from those who couldn’t attend or preferred to voice their thoughts in digital ink, open until October 31, as per the City of Bellevue. A recording of the day’s presentations is available as well, ensuring that no one misses out on the critical conversations held.

The feedback collected at this event, paired with data from the online surveys and previous community input sessions, will be utilized by the city and the Arts Commission as they craft a roadmap to better support local arts and culture. Responses from the event will also serve to provide valuable insight into the city's potential role in the Arts Museum's receivership process, helping to ensure a more stable future for the institution.
