A 14-year-old student from East Central High School has found herself in the grip of the law after authorities say she posted a threat on Instagram. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office detailed that the juvenile was arrested and faces charges for terroristic threats toward her school. According to a report by News 4 San Antonio, the Instagram threat showed an image of guns accompanied by the caption, “East Central CAST and South Campus, here I come.” The alarming post led to a swift investigation by both BCSO and East Central ISD police.
During the investigation, officials initially detained both a 14-year-old male student and the juvenile female who was later charged. The male student, who denied any involvement to authorities, was released and not charged but remained suspended, the BCSO noted. Furthermore, the sheriff's office revealed that the photo shared online was sourced from Pinterest, and crucially, no weapons were found at the residences of either student. In a turn of events, the female student's phone was seized at CAST Lead High School after investigators traced the IP address associated with the troubling social media post back to her parent’s account.
The BCSO underscored the seriousness with which they approach any threat made toward educational institutions or their attendees. “School violence and threats will not be tolerated and will be thoroughly investigated in every instance they are made,” they proclaimed, as KSAT conveyed. East Central ISD also joined in, releasing their own statement via X and expressing gratitude to both the Sheriff’s Office and the East Central Police Department for their commitment to tackling the incident.
In the wake of the arrest, the Sheriff’s Office took to social media to amplify their message, reminding the public of the severe repercussions threats like these carry. “This case serves as a stark reminder of how the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office takes any threat made towards a school or its students seriously. School violence and threats will not be tolerated and will be thoroughly investigated in every instance they are made,” said BCSO in a Facebook post.
