
Earlier today, residents of Barnstable on Cape Cod witnessed a fire at a local impound lot. NBC Boston reports that the blaze began in a single vehicle at the impound lot on Thornton Drive and quickly spread to several vehicles towed by local police departments.
The lot, utilized by a local towing company as an overflow impound area, contained the burned remains of at least six cars, as shown in video footage obtained by Boston 25. The incident, which occurred around 3:40 a.m., prompted a response from police and fire officials. Firefighters worked for approximately an hour and a half to bring the blaze under control; fortunately, it was contained and did not pose a threat to nearby structures.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, with officials focused on uncovering the details surrounding the incident.
