The communications landscape of the City of Bloomington is vibrant thanks to one figure, Janine Hill, who has just been honored with the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) Lifetime Achievement Award. Hill was acknowledged for her extensive contributions during the Northern Lights contest held this year by MAGC.
Her tenure in government communications is notable; beginning as a part-time specialist in 1999, Hill advanced to a full-time role in 2003 and later to the position of communications administrator in 2007. She is at the helm of managing the spectrum of the city's communications, from print to digital, including the oversight of award-winning media content. Her efforts have not gone unrecognized, with more than 100 local and national awards attributed to her leadership.
The City of Bloomington's official press release states Hill's reaction to her notable achievement, "I have so enjoyed producing and leading communications for Bloomington and working with so many talented, service-driven employees and wonderful residents, businesses and organizations over the years," Hill said. "I am thrilled to be recognized with this achievement award by my peers."
Hill's commitment to the field extends beyond the Bloomington city limits. She has held the role of president at both the MAGC and the Minnesota Association of Community Telecommunication Administrators. Furthermore, she's contributed to the sector's development by serving on the board of directors for the City-County Communications and Marketing Association.
