Lake County residents can soon check out their favorite books at the new location of Astor Branch Library, according to an announcement from the Lake County Library System. The current library spot will shut its doors after Saturday, Oct. 5 operations to begin its transition to the upgraded facility.

In anticipation of the move, library officials have collaborated with a construction firm to ensure a seamless transition. From the week starting Oct. 7, library staff and Facilities will work to thoroughly, if not somewhat exhaustively, box up all reading materials to transport them to their new home. According to Lake County's announcement, the team seems set to quickly prepare for a soft opening projected for Wednesday, Oct. 23, unless last-minute hurdles such as inspections or furniture arrivals derail these plans.

The new facility will offer better services and an enhanced library patron experience. The Lake County Library System staff, movers, and contractors are transitioning operations to the new location and inviting the community to visit once it officially opens.
