Yesterday in Billerica, a FedEx delivery led to a police chase and the arrest of two men. According to a detailed report by Boston 25 News, officers were monitoring package deliveries because of a recent rise in thefts. They observed Daneuri Diaz Romero take an iPhone package and quickly drive away in a waiting vehicle.
Law enforcement officers promptly shared the suspect's vehicle description after witnessing the theft. The Burlington Police identified and stopped the suspects, resulting in their arrests without further incident. As reported by The Boston Globe, the suspects, Romero and Yonaykin Guerrero Peguero, are residents of Boston and now face significant legal repercussions.
Both men were charged in connection with the theft, with Romero facing larceny charges. Peguero faces additional charges, including larceny over $1200, failure to stop for police, running a stop sign, reckless driving, and speeding. Their arraignment is scheduled for today in Lowell District Court.
