
Transit officers intercepted an adolescent brandishing what appeared to be a firearm at the Science Park MBTA station, heightening tensions among passengers during the Saturday afternoon rush. The suspect, identified only as a 17-year-old male, was quickly disarmed by transit police, revealing that the gun was indeed a replica. According to an official MBTA Transit Police social media post, the incident unfolded around 4 PM and left no one injured.
10/19 4PM #MBTA Science Park TPD officers responded for a male armed with a gun/displaying same. TPD located a 17y/o male & relieved him of the firearm which turned out to be fake. A V came forward claimed the SP pointed the gun at him. Juvenile male will be summoned into court.

Following the confrontation, a victim came forward claiming that the young perpetrator had pointed the fake gun at them, heightening fears in a space that commuters presumed to be safe. The juvenile involved is set to face charges in court for the alarming display. "TPD officers responded for a male armed with a gun/displaying same," as per the MBTA Transit Police's briefing on the matter.
