Residents in Boston can expect unusually warm temperatures this Halloween, with forecasts predicting highs creeping up to the 80-degree mark. The National Weather Service reports mostly sunny skies today, accompanied by a light southwest breeze but gusts reaching up to 20 mph. While the evening remains mostly warm, those out trick-or-treating should experience a mild drop to 64 degrees.
As the week rolls forward, it's not just spirits that will be stirring. Bostonians need to firmly hold onto their witch hats as the southwest wind is predicted to strengthen on Friday, gusting as high as 28 mph, according to the National Weather Service. A possible quick shower can't be ruled out amidst otherwise mostly sunny skies.
The weekend weather, however, shifts dramatically. Temperatures are expected to take a dive on Saturday, dropping to the 50s with a stark overnight low around 38, certainly bringing a noticeable chill to the air. The sun persists across the weekend while nights remain mostly clear, as reported by the National Weather Service.
The start of next week brings partly sunny conditions, with the high on Monday barely reaching 53 degrees. The potential for showers arrives Monday night, and the chance of precipitation stands at 50%, a scenario to easily prepare for, should you choose to step out. But, the uncertainty doesn't last long, as the warming trend looks to decisively make a comeback post-Election Day, signifying that the 70s are back on the horizon.
Reflecting on this Halloween's weather, NBC Boston describes the conditions as "‘frightening' warmth", noting that the day will feature an "eerie breeze from the southwest" offering comfort to those roaming the night. After this balmy interlude, Boston will temporarily bid farewell to warmth as colder air ushers in with the new month. Nevertheless, the persistence of warmer days appears undiminished, hinting at another spell of the 70s returning after the elections.
