
The Broward Sheriff's Office is seeking public assistance in the case of a stolen credit card used to purchase a sizable electric generator. As caught on Home Depot's surveillance, a man is accused of using the stolen card to buy a 4,000-watt generator in North Lauderdale.
According to a report by NBC Miami, the victim's purse, which included her identification, credit cards, and other items, was taken from a car in Tamarac back in July. The vehicle break-in occurred near the 9000 block of Northwest 58th Street just before 7 p.m. on July 14, with the thief shattering the rear passenger window of a white 2021 Jeep Cherokee and absconding with a designer purse valued at $1,700.
The day following the theft, detectives revealed that an individual was documented on camera wearing a white shirt and dark shorts purchasing at a Home Depot. "Detectives say the man allegedly used the victim's stolen credit card to make the $961.93 purchase," as revealed by NBC Miami. This individual is also suspected of making fraudulent purchases in the city of Coral Springs.
The surveillance video of the suspect has been released, with hopes that the public can aid in identifying and locating the man responsible. Detective Sergio Espinoza of the BSO North Lauderdale District is handling the investigation.
