Officials at the Broward Sheriff's Office are calling on the public for assistance in what has become an urgent search for the relatives or caregiver of a toddler who was left at a local daycare center. The young girl, believed to be between two and three years old and possibly named Malaya, was dropped off this morning at Panda Little Academy, situated at 3900 S.W. 40th Ave. in West Park.
According to a statement obtained by Local10, a man driving a dark-colored vehicle is reported to have left the child at the establishment before leaving the scene.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office has released photos seeking the public's help, including images of the girl, the man whom they believe dropped her off, and the vehicle he was driving. NBC Miami reported that the BSO is urging anyone who might have information regarding the girl's identity or the whereabouts of her family or caregiver to come forward.
Anyone who recognizes the child or has knowledge pertaining to the case is strongly encouraged by Detective Vanessa Encina of the BSO Special Victims Unit to contact her at 561-513-8557.
