In a devastating showing at home, the Seattle Seahawks fell to the Buffalo Bills with a scoreline of 31-10, marking one of the team's worst on-home turf defeats in over two decades. According to FOX13, Yesterday afternoon debacle is only the eighth occurrence since 2000 where the Seahawks have been beaten by at least 21 points on their green. Notably, the Bills were responsible for one of those prior drubbings in 2004.
The Bills broke a trend to superbly come out swinging in the first half of the game, which notably has not been their forte this season. Before this matchup, their first-half games bore a meager +6 point differential, starkly contrasted by a +57 in the second half. However, as noted by Sports Illustrated, the Bills outpaced the Seahawks 145-12 in total yards right out of the gate, a potent statement capped by a 7-0 lead post the first quarter. Quarterback Josh Allen was particularly instrumental, completing 10 of 13 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown pass within that period.
Buffalo's offensive show continued to dominate, becoming the first team since 2022 to record two touchdown drives of over 90 yards in a single half, an achievement last made by Carolina against Detroit. A defensive highlight also caught attention as defensive end Casey Toohill pressured Seahawks' Geno Smith, leading to a turnover. This play ultimately resulted in Buffalo stretching the lead to 24-3 late in the third quarter, as detailed by KOMO News. Running back Cook further capitalized on the Seahawks' follies, with 2 more touchdowns to his name in the third and fourth quarters.
Buffalo's defensive effort was equally impressive. They held Seattle to just 1 yard on the ground during the first half, the second-fewest they've given up in a half this century. As for the injuries on the field, while Bills' WR Curtis Samuel had to sit this one out due to a foot injury, the Seahawks might have felt the pinch of WR DK Metcalf absent with a knee injury. Seahawks' LB Dre'Mont Jones also temporarily left the game with a shoulder issue but was able to return later on.
