Last Wednesday night, the California Highway Patrol's Golden Gate Division Air Operations coordinated a rescue effort to rescue a person stranded on the cliffs of Shelter Cove. The operation began when the North County Fire Authority requested assistance, prompting the swift dispatch of a CHP helicopter, H-30, to the scene. Using precise coordinates, the rescue team located the individual as dusk fell over the rocky coastline, per the CHP - Golden Gate Division Air Operations' social media post.
The stranded person was found on the southern edge of the cliff, immobile but uninjured. A CHP medic was deployed via a one-skid maneuver from the helicopter to reach the individual and assess the situation. After confirming no medical concerns, the team prepared for safe extraction, lifting the individual from their precarious position to an area where ground responders awaited.
The operation demonstrated effective coordination between the CHP aircrew and local authorities. Following the successful lift, the helicopter returned to retrieve the medic, clearing the scene with all persons accounted for.
