For those planning to be in the vicinity of Harvard Square, MIT, or along the Charles River, the City of Cambridge's Traffic, Parking, and Transportation Department advises of potential disruptions due to the Head of the Charles Regatta. With thousands of rowers and spectators anticipated, drivers can anticipate additional traffic and restricted parking. The section of Memorial Drive near the regatta will shut down to vehicles from Saturday at 8 a.m. till Sunday at 9 p.m. According to the official advisory, select streets will be off-limits from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. over the weekend.
The Community Arts Center is hosting 'Wild Wild Windsor' on Cherry Street tomorrow, which will lead to road closures from 3-6 p.m. between School Street and Washington Street. Pony rides will be available from 3:30-5:30 p.m., offering entertainment for attendees. Additionally, a Block Party in Central Square will take place, featuring arts, activities, and dancing, resulting in closures along Norfolk Street between Mass. Ave. and Bishop Allen Drive from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday.
The city's schedule of events continues with the weekly FOUND Block Party on Saturday, closing Columbia St between Bishop Allen Drive and Main St from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additionally, support for local businesses is evident with the Harvard Square Black Owned Business Pop-up Market on Palmer Street every Sunday. This event will result in the closure of Palmer Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday next week.
For individuals traveling along the Somerville and North Cambridge border, delays are expected. From Tuesday through Thursday next week, a construction project in Somerville will lead to lane closures on Cameron Avenue. Access to Cameron Avenue from Massachusetts Avenue will be restricted, but travelers can still reach it via Holland Street in Somerville.
