Central Florida has been shaken by recent allegations against a local bail bond business owner. Russell "Bruce" Moncrief, who operates Moncrief Bail Bonds, faces serious charges involving human trafficking and racketeering. The Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI) announced that these charges follow an extensive investigation that began back in October 2021, as reported by ClickOrlando.

Triggering the investigation was the arrest of attorney John Gillespie in 2020 on similar charges, with subsequent victims' allegations connecting back to Moncrief. "Victims of Gillespie alleged that they had to have sex with Bruce Moncrief... in exchange for being bonded out of jail or in exchange for others being bonded out of jail," described the MBI in a statement detailed by ClickOrlando. The bondsman is purported to have exploited his role to solicit sexual acts in place of bond payment from women, granting freedom at the cost of their bodies.

The accused's company premises in multiple counties were scrutinized, leading to further evidence supporting the allegations. In August 2024, MBI executed search warrants at Moncrief's offices across Orange, Osceola, and Brevard Counties. In a development brought forth by WFTV, Moncrief has been denied bond and is awaiting proceedings in Seminole County Jail.
