The Chandler City Council, in an effort to protect those who protect, has renewed a contract with Sigma Tactical Wellness. The agreement, pinned at $108,000, focuses solely on the heart health of the city's police officers, a move that underscores the ongoing concern for the well-being of first responders, as reported by the City of Chandler.
This isn't the first time Chandler's finest have had their hearts checked, with over 200 officers having voluntarily participated in this program previously. The initiative addresses an often overlooked but critical aspect of law enforcement health: the risk of heart disease and related conditions, so prevalent among police personnel.
According to the official announcement, officers who opt-in will continue to have access to cardiometabolic health screenings. These screenings offer not just a snapshot of an officer's current heart health, but also a window into potential future cardiovascular issues. Alongside, participants receive recommendations for exercise and nutrition that could better their health and longevity.
