An officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Dylan Lineberger, faces legal repercussions following an arrest for harassment, as reported by the department's internal newsroom. The incident prompting Lineberger's arrest, which occurred outside of CMPD jurisdiction, has subsequently led to an internal probe within the department's Internal Affairs Division.
The circumstances came to light after a routine traffic stop by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in Lincolnton, N.C. ultimately, a warrant had been issued for Lineberger's arrest in South Carolina on charges of 1st Degree Harassment and, following the stop, the officer who was off-duty at the time is now awaiting extradition back to South Carolina. For further details surrounding the investigation, the Rock Hill Police Department in South Carolina has taken the helm; inquiries are being directed to its Public Information Office.
Following these developments, Lineberger, who has been associated with the CMPD since January 25, 2016, and was last assigned to the force's Central Division, has seen a stark alteration in employment status. The CMPD has taken swift action, placing the officer on administrative leave without pay as they await the results of the ongoing Internal Affairs Investigation.
