The Chicago Transit Authority is reaching out for new members to join its ADA Advisory Committee, as per the announcement made yesterday. Up to 12 individuals who frequently use the CTA services and represent the diversity of the disability community within Chicago and its surrounding 35 suburbs will comprise the committee, which has been influencing transit accessibility since 1993, these members, by lending their voices and expertise, will not only help identify areas of improvement but also communicate the needs of disabled riders to the decision-makers at CTA.
Applicants have until November 8, 2024, to submit their materials, which may lead to a seat at the table where discussions on topics such as infrastructure, policy, and overall long-range planning pertinent to accessibility take place. Members of the ADA Advisory Committee will serve to advise the CTA on strategies to better serve riders with disabilities by meeting quarterly.
