
A tragic incident in Pompano Beach has claimed the life of a child after a drowning incident on Thursday. The Broward Sheriff’s Office and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue teams were dispatched to a residence on the 1600 block of Northeast First Avenue, responding to alerts of a possible drowning scenario shortly after noon, according to NBC Miami.
In a distressing call to emergency services, a loved one conveyed the urgency of the situation, "Please, the baby fell in the pool -- we found her," as heard in audio footage obtained by Local 10 News. To the dispatcher’s query, "How long was she in the pool?" the caller replied with uncertainty,"We don’t know."
The child, whose age and identity were not disclosed to the public was discovered submerged in the pool by first responders. Immediately they commenced lifesaving measures in a bid to revive the young victim. Despite the efforts taken on the scene, the child succumbed to their condition and was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital, as per Local 10 News. Further investigation into this heart-rending event is currently being conducted by the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Homicide and, Crime Scene units as stated in a report by NBC Miami.
