Yesterday evening, the tranquility of Harwich's Brooks Road Beach was disrupted when a child became entrapped in a sandy pit, sparking an urgent response from emergency crews. The young individual was found submerged up to the chest in a hole, measuring three feet wide and equally as deep, according to Boston 25 News.
The situation, unfolding around 5:30 p.m., demanded meticulous efforts from the firefighters, and, Harwich Police who collaborated to avert further danger. A protective tube was employed to keep the encircling sand from collapsing, subsequently enabling the safe extraction of the child after a quarter-hour endeavor. Notwithstanding the potential severity of the circumstances, the child emerged unscathed.
