The city is gearing up for its 60th Annual Starlight Parade and Festival, an event deeply woven into its holiday traditions. According to the City of Chula Vista's official announcements, the celebrations will ignite Third Avenue with holiday cheer on December 14, starting at 3 p.m.
Mayor John McCann expressed the city's collective anticipation. "I'm excited to bring the Starlight Parade back again this year," he told the city's newswire. "This is a historic Chula Vista tradition, a major part of our culture and a way to unify our community." The Mayor fondly recalls his childhood experience in the parade and aims to create lasting memories for new generations, including his grandchildren.
This year's festivities promise an array of activities perfect for family and friends, from a holiday market showcasing local artisanal wares to complimentary photos with Santa. As the sun dips low in the sky, the parade will light up at 6 p.m., featuring a vibrant assortment of floats, marching bands, dance teams, and classic cars.
A key highlight will be the tree lighting ceremony at 5:45 p.m., featuring a holiday tree that eclipses 25 feet in height. To get involved with the Starlight Parade or Festival as a participant, vendor, or sponsor, options are available for application and registration through the Starlight Parade website.
