Cincinnati residents and travelers prepare for another weekend of detours as the Ohio Department of Transportation shuts down a segment of Northbound Interstate 75 for construction. According to FOX19 reports, the closure between the off-ramp to State Route 562 East and the on-ramp from SR-562 West, known as the Norwood Lateral, will begin at 10 p.m. yesterday and is expected to remain in place until 3 a.m. Monday.
The repeated closure, which represents the second such interruption this month, is part of a larger project to address what has been described as a pavement "dip" in the area. LOCAL12 explained that the repair will involve removing the pavement, excavating processes, constructing a load transfer platform, and repaving. The previous weekend saw the installation of 85 piles, suggesting an extensive effort to ensure long-term stability and safety for the thousands who traverse this route daily.
As local drivers and those passing through seek to avoid getting caught in likely congestion, the Ohio Department of Transportation has recommended a signed detour to route travelers via S.R. 562 East, I-71 North, and I-275 West. For those approaching from Kentucky, using I-71 upon crossing the Brent Spence Bridge has been advised for traffic, as detailed by The Enquirer. Local commuters may also choose between several alternate routes, including I-71 or I-74 West to I-275, to skirt the construction zone and its associated delays.
