A firefighter was injured, and four residents were displaced following a blaze that tore through a multi-story home in Lower Price Hill, Cincinnati, yesterday evening. The Cincinnati Fire Department reported to the scene in the 1600 block of State Avenue at around 6:08 p.m., as fires consumed the building and threatened neighboring structures. According to WCPO, the intensity of the flames impeded efforts to search the house after reports indicated a potential victim inside, which later proved false.
Emergency responders arrived to confront a fully involved fire across all three floors of one home, which quickly spread to an adjacent house and caused notable damage to its third-floor attic space, WLWT detailed. The fire department's search, initially hindered by the voracity of the flames, resulted in no victims despite earlier misconceptions suggesting someone may have been trapped inside.
The Cincinnati Fire Department did not immediately disclose the lone firefighter's injuries, sustained during the fire-fighting operations. The injured firefighter's actual condition, as per Local12, remains undisclosed. Additionally, the Red Cross stepped in to offer aid to two adults affected by the incident.
A significant note in the incident was the absence of smoke detectors in the primary structure, which was a poor omen for residential safety. The aftermath saw crews engaged for several hours to subdue lingering hot spots. According to the information obtained from Local12, the preliminary damage estimation stood at $200,000. The Cincinnati Fire Department's Fire Investigative Unit continues to investigate the cause of this destructive fire.
