The Frisco City Council recently gave its nod to The Mix, heralding a major advancement in Frisco's urban landscape. The approval of the Master Development Agreement signals the commitment of up to $113.4 million in support for this mixed-use community venture. This economic injection from the city, and its development arms, is tied to the promise of a fresh and walkable neighborhood destined to foster economic growth and job creation.
Located at the crossroads of Lebanon Road and Dallas Parkway, The Mix takes over what once was Wade Park. The 112-acre site is slated for a transformation into an area combining two million square feet of new class-A office space, retail environments, residential units, two hotels, and townhomes. The aim is clear: integrating work, leisure, and living spaces seamlessly into one vibrant community.
The development plan is not just about buildings but also about the breathing spaces in between. More than 16 acres will be open space, which includes parks and trails, incorporated into The Mix. For Phase 1 of the development, funding is earmarked for property remediation and providing an underground parking garage which, once complete, is anticipated to house a staggering 2,250 vehicles.
However, opening the financial tap is contingent on meeting several development milestones. As per the announcement by the City of Frisco, the green light for these incentives depends on The Mix delivering a suite of expected facilities. Among these are a sizeable medical office building, an upscale grocery store, additional retail spaces, residential units, and not least, the establishment of expansive open areas for public enjoyment.
Jeff Cheney, the Mayor of Frisco, conveyed enthusiasm for the future of this development. "I’ve often said the final story – of what was once called Wade Park – will be a positive one," Mayor Cheney told the City of Frisco. "Now rebranded as The Mix, tonight marks the next chapter in this development story." Equally confident statements were echoed by representatives of the Frisco Economic Development Corporation and Frisco Community Development Corporation, who emphasized the strategic value of The Mix in enhancing Frisco's attractiveness to businesses and residents alike.
