Clarksville Transit System's (CTS) very own Veronica Williams, Operations Supervisor, was honored with the Urban Support Employee of the Year award by the Tennessee Public Transportation Association (TPTA), a tribute to her 20 years of dedicated service. According to a recent announcement by CTS, Williams was chosen from a competitive pool of nominees representing 26 member agencies throughout Tennessee.
The TPTA, known for its mission to foster the development of efficient public transportation in the state, is comprised of various transit agencies and other members from a wide spectrum of businesses and organizations, including local governments, chambers of commerce, and transportation consultants, Williams' award stands as a testament to her commitment, where she stood out among her peers in service and dedication, her daily efforts not going unnoticed by Michael Ringgenberg, CTS Director, who lauded her impact saying, "Veronica does an outstanding job for CTS and she has put her heart and soul into serving our riders for the last 20 years."
When her name was announced, Williams expressed her astonishment and humility, "I was very surprised when they called my name," she said in a statement, highlighting her approach to service, "I try my best to do what I can to help anyone. I try to do the same for anyone as they would do for me," a sentiment reflecting her universal respect for all riders and her belief in the intrinsic value of public service.
"This award could be given to anyone in the 26 agencies in TPTA," Williams modestly added, deflecting attention from her personal achievement to shine a light on the collective effort necessary in public transportation; this domain serves as a crucial support system for a diverse array of individuals, families, businesses, and communities across the state, and there, it becomes clear that recognition such as this not only honors an individual but also casts a spotlight on the broader goal of improving transit systems for the benefit of all Tennesseans.
