Local authorities are piecing together clues after a grisly discovery at a Columbus car wash late evening yesterday. According to WBNS, officers responded to a call that led them to an abandoned car wash located in the 1500 block of Holt Road near Georgesville Road, where they found a male body in a state of advanced decomposition.
The discovery, made around 10:45 p.m., prompted a response not just from the police but from the Franklin County Coroner’s Office. The extent of the body's decay was such that homicide detectives have been brought in to take over the investigation, suggesting suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. "The level of decomposition on the male’s body" required expert assessment, said Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert, in a statement obtained by WBNS.
Further reporting by NBC4i indicated that the body was located inside one of the car wash bays at the former Super Wash car wash, a property that has been out of service for years and is enclosed by a chain-link fence. The site, now a scene of an investigation, echoes with unanswered questions, nestled within the eerie silence of its disuse.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the deceased, pending an autopsy to determine the cause of death. As per ABC6, the Franklin County Coroner's Office's involvement underscores the grim nature of the find and the investigative challenges posed by the condition of the remains.
