Jonathan Pigram, 38, of Columbus, has entered guilty pleas to the murders of Cornet Powell and Dawn Dunn, both aged 41, according to a recent update from the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. This plea comes after a fatal shooting incident outside a pub on Cleveland Avenue in May 2023. The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office press release notes that Pigram also pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder and one count of weapons under disability in an unrelated case.
The case, prosecuted by assistant prosecuting attorneys John Gripshover and John Cornely, revealed that on May 1, 2023, Pigram confronted the victims and fired shots, which resulted in the deaths of Dunn and Powell and injured one other victim. A second intended target was missed during the gunfire. The Columbus Division of Police detectives determined no known connection between Pigram and any of the victims involved.
Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Carl Aveni will set a date for sentencing, as indicated in the same press release. Prosecutors are pushing for a life sentence with the possibility of parole for Pigram only after he serves 52 years, reflecting the severity of the crimes committed.
