
Turning the page on a recent act of violence, Columbus residents learned that a suspect in a fatal shooting on Quarter Horse Drive has surrendered to authorities. According to an update from the Columbus Division of Police, Mr. Kevin Hurt turned himself in yesterday and is now facing charges for the murder of Mr. Jshawn Simmons.
Details of the tragic incident that shook the community emerged when Columbus Police were dispatched to the 6200 block of Quarter Horse Drive on Wednesday at approximately 2:02 PM following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Simmons with a gunshot wound, and despite rapid response from Columbus Fire EMS personnel, he was pronounced deceased at 2:11 PM. Detectives, lead by Detective J. Wood and assisted by Detective D. Phillips, continue to dissect the moments, that led to the gunfire.
The Columbus Police Homicide Unit urged the public to provide information that may unravel the circumstances surrounding Simmons's death.
