Authorities in Columbus are turning to the public for help in identifying a suspect involved in a recent theft and assault at a business on Cassady Avenue. According to the Columbus Division of Police report released yesterday, an unidentified woman wearing a red hoodie, black shorts, and red shoes walked into a store in the 1400 block of Cassady Avenue. She took multiple items before leaving the premises without attempting to pay.
The incident, which took place on September 15, escalated when an employee confronted the woman outside of the business. The suspect responded with violence, punching and biting the employee who had sought to address her leaving without payment, all of which led to her getting away in a dark blue SUV, possibly a GMC Yukon. The Columbus Police Property Crimes Division is actively investigating the case. Detective Francis has been assigned as the lead on this matter, urging anyone with knowledge of the suspect to come forward with information that can aid in her capture.
To increase the chances of apprehending the suspect, the police have provided Detective Francis with a phone number, 614-645-2158, and have also opened up an email address, [email protected], for tips. Furthermore, individuals who wish to remain anonymous may contact Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS(8477). The effectiveness of community involvement in identifying and locating suspects has been proven repeatedly, and officials are hopeful that this will be the case with this incident on Cassady Avenue.
