
A Commerce Township man, Khim Lal Ghimire, 59, faces charges after his involvement in a fatal traffic collision that claimed the life of motorcyclist Joshua Steven Moomaw, 40, also from Commerce Township. As reported by ClickOnDetroit, Ghimire was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of moving violation, causing death following an incident that occurred on the evening of June 16. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.

At the same time, Moomaw and his wife, who were waiting to turn left on their motorcycle, were struck from behind by Ghimire's vehicle on Wixom Road near Stratford Villa Way. Those charges were filed after Ghimire turned himself in on October 4, as a FOX 2 Detroit report detailed. The $2,000 personal bond was set for Ghimire, who is expected to return to court for a pretrial conference on October 16.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the crash, according to investigations by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit. The report by Audacy indicated that Moomaw's wife, 41, was hospitalized for her injuries sustained in the crash but was later released. Authorities also noted that neither Moomaws was wearing helmets at the time of the accident, while Ghimire wore a seat belt and did not sustain injuries.
