A pedestrian was left in critical condition following a collision in Walnut Park East last Thursday evening. The incident took place around 7:45 p.m. when a 2009 Mazda 6, heading west on W. Florissant Ave and nearing Beacon Ave, struck an unidentified man who was crossing the street mid-block, away from the safety of a crosswalk, as per details provided by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
First responders arrived quickly at the scene, and the injured pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in critical and unstable condition. Details about the accident are limited, but the driver of the Mazda remained at the scene.
Accident reconstruction units are currently investigating the incident, according to a report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
