While Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) personnel dedicated last Saturday evening to ensuring the safety and security of the city, the department made sure their commitment didn't go unnoticed. In collaboration with Friends of the Fire Department and Campisi's Restaurant, a special dinner was organized for all on-duty DFR members. According to an announcement from the City of Dallas, this gesture is a token of gratitude for the unwavering dedication these first responders display day in and day out.
The celebratory meal, consisting of pizzas, started to make its way to fire stations across the city at 4 p.m. last Saturday. Despite the annual awards banquet taking place at the House of Blues, recognizing the hard work of DFR staff, those unable to attend due to duty calls were not forgotten. As per DFR's Public Information Officer Jason Evans, it's this kind of recognition that helps to "honor our firefighters" and remind them that their service is valued. The department intended to deliver appreciation to their doorstep, as cited by the City of Dallas.
The department often seeks to acknowledge the sacrifices made by these individuals, who spend much of their lives on call to protect others. Media were invited to cover the event and witness the delivery of the meals outside Campisi's Restaurant, located at 5405 W. Lovers Lane, where the B-roll footage was available for broadcasting.
