Tomorrow at 11 a.m., the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Dallas Public Library, will kick off a free literary event at City Park, a venue known for its rich historical significance and vibrant echoes of 19th-century Texas life.
This event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to explore both artistic expression and history without cost. Part of a recurring monthly series extending through December, the program invites literature enthusiasts to enjoy a blend of poetry and local heritage. With each installment, visitors can soak in the charm of Victorian-era homesteads and historic storefronts while savoring the artistry of contemporary poetry.
According to the City of Dallas, this partnership aims to foster community engagement through culture and history, with the added allure of experiencing these works in the city’s first public park.
More than just a celebration of words, the event is also an invitation to immerse oneself in the beauty of the venue itself. Known affectionately as Old City Park, this 20-acre expanse features carefully restored historic buildings that provide a nostalgic backdrop. The park offers a rare glimpse into 19th-century Texan life, making it a fitting location for this modern literary experience.
