Travelers flying out of Dallas Love Field (DAL) will need to brace for a hike in parking fees starting October 18. According to a bulletin from the City of Dallas, the increase comes as a response to the airport facing higher demand and operational costs. Parking space has become a particular issue, with DAL now housing approximately 12,000 parking spaces that struggle to meet the surge, especially during peak travel seasons.
The last significant parking structure expansion at DAL was in November 2018, with the introduction of Garage C and its additional 5,000 spaces. However, the growth in passenger numbers — swelling to nearly 9 million yearly and dwarfing pre-pandemic levels — has triggered a need for the upcoming rate adjustments. Noted by the city, since the COVID pandemic, there was only one previous rate increase in 2022, following a decrease when Garage C opened.
DAL's new parking rates, as outlined in the bulletin, display an evident rise across all garages and services. For instance, Garage A will see rates leap from $16 to $24 for all levels. Garage B's uncovered spaces will now cost $18, up from $10, while covered spaces will increase from $13 to $21. As for Garage C, uncovered rates go up to $20 from $13, covered from $16 to $21, and the premium level soars from $25 to $30. Valet will now set back passengers $35 instead of the previous $28.
Reflecting on its significant economic impact and passenger volume, DAL, positioned within seven miles of Downtown Dallas, has been recognized as a leading medium hub airport in the U.S. With over 17.5 million passengers served in 2023 and a strong connection to more than 28,000 local jobs, the airport has repeatedly earned recognition for its quality and innovation in the airport service landscape.
