If you're going to Downtown San Antonio this weekend, expect heavy traffic and limited parking due to events like concerts by Billy Joel and Sting at the Alamodome, as well as Día de los Muertos celebrations in the area, according to the City of San Antonio.
Roadblocks and detours may affect travel plans, particularly around the Alamodome, which is expected to be a congestion hotspot tomorrow evening. It is advisable to avoid driving near I-37/281. Instead, consider using VIA's Park & Ride services for the Billy Joel and Sting concert, or opt for biking, walking, or public transportation. With the River Parade and concerts starting simultaneously at 7 p.m.
There are several activities planned, including the Billy Joel and Sting concert, the Day of the Dead River Parade tomorrow, and celebrations like Muertos Fest at Hemisfair and the Day of the Dead Festival at La Villita from tomorrow through Sunday. Market Square will also host its own Día de los Muertos Cultural Celebration on Saturday and Sunday, along with the River North Block Party, which will take place tomorrow as well.
Finding a parking spot can be challenging, but the City's SAPark website provides a user-friendly map of available options at City-owned garages and lots, with event rates capped at $15. St. Mary’s Garage and City Tower Garage are close to popular downtown locations and typically have available spaces. Additionally, City Tower Garage offers free parking on Sundays. If possible, consider leaving your car at home to navigate the weekend more easily.
