The City of Eden Prairie is encouraging its residents to get proactive about yard waste management before the winter freeze sets in. According to a recent bulletin, the Yard Waste Site will stay open Fridays from 2–5 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. until November 24. If hauling leaves and twigs aren't your thing, you might look into the curbside pickup offered through most trash haulers or even consider composting in your backyard.

In efforts to reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainable living, nearly 70 Eden Prairie residents pledged their commitment to renewable energy. Celebrating this initiative, John L. emerged as the winner of Eden Prairie's Renewable Energy Challenge drawing, bagging himself an e-bike for subscribing to Renewable*Connect Flex® through Xcel Energy.

More than just managing waste, Eden Prairie is also dishing out wisdom to help locals cut down on those pesky energy bills that tend to spike during the winter months. Tips include scheduling routine service for your heating systems and turning down thermostats — simple steps that could supposedly ease the pressure on personal finances and the planet simultaneously. If you want to dive deeper into energy conservation, you can schedule a visit with the Home Energy Squad®, as detailed on the city's official website.

For those with a thirst for knowledge or just looking to escape the chill, the Outdoor Center Speaker Series is offering sessions—for a $5 fee—targeted at ages 13 and above. Those interested can learn more and register through the city’s website.
