Eight women have taken a significant step forward in reconstructing their lives, as they proudly donned caps and gowns to mark their graduation from the RISE Program on Tuesday. RISE, founded by Judge Brent Carr, is a two-year court program designed to offer a second chance through comprehensive intervention measures.
In a system often criticized for failing to provide sustainable support to those entangled within it, RISE appears to chart a different course. The program boldly aims to truly empower women, a mission brought to life through job-based training, GED classes, recovery groups, and financial literacy classes. This holistic approach to rehabilitation and empowerment is thoughtfully designed to set the graduates on a path to a future they can look forward to.
The successful collaboration among several Tarrant County organizations is a critical part of RISE's effectiveness. MHMR of Tarrant County, The Net FW, The Salvation Army, The Women's Center of Tarrant County, and Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County all play a role in ensuring these women have the support they need. According to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, RISE "empowers, supports, and uplifts women who are working to change their lives."
