A bicyclist, identified as 76-year-old Edward Files, was fatally injured last month in a collision and has since passed away, local authorities report. The Baltimore County Police Department has been investigating the incident on September 20 when Files, riding his bicycle, struck a 2017 Ford Taurus exiting a driveway onto Taylor Avenue.
According to the initial police report, the crash took place near Collinsdale Road in the Towson Precinct area at approximately 9:45 A.M. The cyclist was traveling eastbound on the sidewalk before the collision with the vehicle, driven by an unnamed operator who stayed at the scene following the crash.
The Baltimore County Fire Department responded promptly, transporting Files to a local hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts to save him, on Sunday, Edward Files succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash.
Further details of the investigation are pending as detectives with the Baltimore County Police Crash Team continue to explore the circumstances of the crash. The police department has not yet determined whether charges should be filed against the driver of the Ford Taurus.
