
A tragic incident unfolded at the Kaiser Medical Center in the Moanalua area, where a 75-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle reported Honolulu authorities. The collision occurred on Friday at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the medical center's private parking lot. The pedestrian, a 75-year-old female, was hit while a 51-year-old female driver was executing a left turn to exit the parking structure, according to Hawaii News Now.
The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition where she later died from her injuries while the driver, who was unharmed, remained at the scene throughout the incident, the Honolulu Police Department Officials have reported on the event; the traffic division along with the Vehicular Homicide Section of the Honolulu Police Department are investigating the factors that led to the crash but preliminarily ruled out speed, drugs, and alcohol as contributing factors to the fatal event, as per Hawaii News Now.
According to KITV, there were no crosswalks for pedestrians in the area where the crash occurred. This marks the second non-traffic fatality on Oahu this year, which is on par with the statistics from the same time last year.
