Residents of Elizabeth, Allegheny County, woke up to an unusual scene this morning. A massive water main break caused a stream of water to gush onto a local house, resulting in significant damage. The rupture occurred early in the morning, sending water spewing onto the property and infiltrating the interior through the home's chimney, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.

The homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the incident to CBS News. She stated that around 6 a.m., after taking her dog outside, she returned inside to rest, but soon after, it sounded like the house was being hit by a tornado. In an observation eerily reminiscent of a natural disaster, the homeowner saw water directly hitting her house. Despite the chaos, she described the incident as a "minor inconvenience," acknowledging that "others in the world are suffering much more than she is."

Meanwhile, WPXI reported that their crew witnessed water cascading down the side of the house at the scene. The basement incurred substantial water accumulation, with reports of a couple of feet of water pooling on the lower level of the property.

According to the same WPXI coverage, the water's force was strong enough to damage interior ceilings and other parts of the house. Pennsylvania American Water, the local water authority, managed to shut off the water after about an hour of effort, and they will take responsibility for the damages as the incident unfolded within their jurisdiction.
