A disturbing case of child fatality concluded with the sentencing of a Euclid couple for the death of a 4-year-old boy, Musiah Wadud, and the abuse of his younger brother, as per cleveland.com. Dyneshia Anderson, the boy's aunt, received a life sentence with parole eligibility after 18 years, having pled guilty to charges of murder, felonious assault, and endangering children, while her boyfriend, Devin Hall, was sentenced to 20.5 years after a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering children.
Prosecutors detailed the heinous abuse that resulted in over 100 scars, marks, abrasions, or bruises on Wadud's body, including lethal injuries such as a fractured skull, two other head injuries, and a lacerated liver according to the autopsy results, information from FOX8 and Cleveland 19. Anderson and Hall were tasked with the care of Wadud and his brother after their mother lost custody due to mental health issues. This arrangement ended tragically with police discovering the unresponsive child at the couple's Parkside Gardens apartment in Euclid. In the same apartment complex, other children appeared healthy and unharmed, juxtaposing the neglect suffered by Wadud and his brother.
At the sentencing, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Anna Faraglia underscored the gravity of the case, stating, Not only has a child died, but a child has to live without his brother and has to retell what they both had to endure, as described in cleveland.com. Anderson expressed remorse, saying, "I failed my nephews and I regret it," Hall also voiced his regret, stating, "I didn’t aid and abed any of this," as Cleveland19 captured during the proceedings.
