In response to the discovery of West Nile Virus-carrying mosquitoes in Euless, Texas, the city geared up for a targeted insecticide spray operation that started yesterday at 9 p.m. in Zone 9. According to the City of Euless, the procedure was a direct consequence of positive mosquito tests for the virus, following recommendations by Tarrant County Public Health to concentrate efforts in impacted areas.

For the safety and comfort of residents, the City of Euless advised the public to stay indoors with pets and children during the spray and to secure outdoor items such as fish ponds, beehives, and gardens, as these measures would help reduce contact with the pesticide BIOMIST 4+4 ULV being deployed. As a precaution, those with window-unit air conditioners were instructed to either switch them off or set them to recirculate indoor air exclusively. Furthermore, locals were counseled to avoid driving near or being near the spraying vehicles to prevent any potential complications.

After the spraying, residents were recommended to rinse any fruits and produce that were outside during the operation. However, typically, there was no need to clean outdoor furniture or playgrounds since the spray droplets became inactive relatively quickly, especially under sunlight. The city assured that the pesticides employed, specifically BIOMIST 4+4 ULV, were considered safe by the Environmental Protection Agency and did not present an unreasonable health risk under the conditions of their use for mosquito control.
