East Tennesseeans should brace for a wave of construction-induced delays. The authorities have announced a series of roadworks and repairs set to take place across the region, suggesting major impacts on the area's traffic flows over the coming week. According to a Tennessee Department of Transportation report, projects ranging from guardrail repairs on I-75 to bridge work on SR 162 can be expected to disrupt normal traffic patterns, urging motorists to exhibit constant vigilance and patience when navigating these zones.
Starting on October 10, sections of I-75 in Anderson County near Mile Marker 119.5 will have guardrail repairs, causing temporary lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. SR 62 will also see similar overnight lane closures, which may lead to longer travel times. During the day, drivers on SR 33 in Blount County might face roadside construction and resurfacing work from Tuckaleechee Pike to the Hesse Creek bridge, potentially causing delays into the night.
In Blount County, bridge work on Pellissippi Parkway will require lane reductions. In Campbell County, nighttime delays are expected due to resurfacing between Mile Markers 140 to 147 and 156 to 160. SR 63 will also experience daytime disruptions from Frontier Road/Woodson Lane to the Claiborne County Line.
However, Carter County faces a more significant issue: the US 321/SR 67 Bridge over the Doe River is out of service due to storm damage, forcing traffic onto detours that bypass this important route. This highlights the fragility of our infrastructure and the ongoing efforts to maintain it.
