A tragic collision on SR-132 in the Modesto area has resulted in the death of a woman, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident, which involved two vehicles showing major damage upon the arrival of first responders, occurred just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was driving a 2001 Toyota sedan and was pronounced dead after being transported to Memorial Medical Center. In contrast, the driver of the other vehicle, a 1995 Toyota pickup driven by Billy Stilley, and his passenger Jason Crum, sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the same medical center, ABC 10 reports.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the sedan was traveling east and approaching a left bend while the pickup was heading west. The sedan lost control of the curve and spun into the oncoming lane, colliding with the pickup truck. "Everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts," says California Highway Patrol, as ABC 10 reports.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the factors that led to the woman's loss of control, including potential involvement of drugs or alcohol, according to KCRA. Highway 132 was temporarily closed after the crash, causing delays for motorists.
